I’m incredibly excited to announce that my anthology collection, “A Little Too Dark,” is now available on Amazon. I wrote most of these stories five years ago in the early days of Covid and I can’t wait for you all to step into the haunted halls of Middletown Middle School.
The Story Behind the Stories
I wrote these scary stories because I believe there’s more to fear than just monsters and ghosts. Schools are places where kids deal with real-life challenges every day.
In the hallways of Middletown Middle, spooky things happen that show us important life lessons. “The Giant Well” shows how wanting too much can change who we are. “The New Girl” is about treating people fairly no matter who they are. “Bus J” makes us think about fixing our mistakes before it’s too late.
These stories connect because growing up is both scary and amazing. They’re about facing fears and learning what kind of person you want to become.
“A Little Too Dark” contains nine interconnected tales that take place from the Civil War era to modern day, all centered around Kansas’s most enigmatic school. Each story reveals another layer of Middletown Middle’s dark history:
Who This Book Is For
If you grew up reading R.L. Stine or Alvin Schwartz under the covers with a flashlight, this book is for you. If you’re a parent of a middle-grade reader looking for something a little scarier than what you typically find on school library shelves, this book is for you. After all, when I sent it out to agents and publishers, they told me it’s a little too dark.
